Academia (Open Credit University ERP)

Project Overview

Academia is a complete university management system built for open-credit universities. It brings the whole academic side of a university into one place, with online fee payment built in. It covers admissions, exams, attendance, grading, transcripts, course catalogs and class scheduling.

It has been running at BRAC University since 2012, handling academic administration, grading by faculty, course advising and tuition payments.

Technical Actions & Architecture

Mohammed Tajul Islam led the core enterprise architecture, high-concurrency database optimization, and secure financial gateway integration:

  • Open-Credit Curriculum Engine: Designed the logic that tracks course dependencies and prerequisites, and checks a student's progress toward a flexible open-credit degree.
  • Automated Tuition & Payment Gateway Integration: Connected online banking and mobile financial services so fees are collected, matched to invoices and scholarships are managed automatically.
  • Admissions & Lifecycle Management: Built a paperless admission process: online applications, evaluation, automatic merit ranking and digital student IDs.
  • Conflict-Free Exam & Timetable Scheduling: Created automatic timetabling that avoids clashes between faculty, classroom space and exam dates.
  • Dynamic Grading & Transcript Generation: Built secure grade submission, CGPA calculation and the engine that produces official, audit-ready transcripts.
